Policy on Lyme Disease and Tick-Borne Infections: A Community Agenda

Policy on Lyme Disease and Tick-Borne Infections: A Community Agenda
The following is the Preface and Introduction to an extensive 26 page article on Lyme disease and tick-borne infections (TBIs) by Kate Bloor (followed by a link to the full article in PDF format). Kate argues that a coordinated effort is required, from  government policy at the top down to local community efforts at the bottom, to prevent the spread of TBIs and the incidence of Lyme disease, which as many will know is extremely difficult to treat once it becomes chronic. It is focused on the UK but the information is relevent to those of you in the US, Canada, and elsewhere.  If you or any of your loved ones suffers from Lyme disease, TBIs, or multi-system illnesses such as chronic fatigue syndrome (often misdiagnosed Lyme disease), I urge you to read the full article and take action to implement its recommendations.   POLICY ON LYME DISEASE (AND TICK-BORNE INFECTIONS) IN ENGLAND AND THE...

Do You Know How Toxic Your Life Is?
Intentionality in changing our buying and cleaning habits is vital for protecting our well-being. In order to be stronger and live longer, we must choose to create a healing habitat that effectively eliminates toxins in our bodies and reduces the source of toxins in our environment so that restoration of optimum health can occur.   These check-points will alert you to some of the ways to improve your health through behavioral changes:   1. Check in your sink and under it   Dishwashing liquid residue is left on dishes and eaten, use a non-toxic alternative such as Seventh Generation Free & Clear Laundry Liquid Clean your sponge; studies have shown that the degree of contamination of sponges of a hundred million to one billion microorganisms of any kind per sponge. Wash your sponge (put it in your dishwasher even). Toxic chemical arsenal under the sick! Yes, most of us are...

Why is Lyme Disease Largely Being Ignored?

Today I was asked the following question via a comment on my Facebook page "In your humble opinion, WHY is media & gov't ignoring the plight of over 2.3+ billion people in their suffering? Is it because of their involvement in bioweaponizing this bacteria on {C}Plum Island or is it deeper than this? This is question many of us are plagued with... God Bless Always. Thank you." Mary B. Dear Mary, I have pondered this same question for the past 12 years that I have been helping people with this illness. While Lyme disease might have been a weaponized bug from Plum Island, it comes down to who is going to treat these chronically ill people in a hospital setting. In a hospital the human conditions are departmentalized into Neurology, Cardiology, Nephrology, Rheumatology, Infectious Disease, and every other '...ology. Most chronic Lyme sufferers have virtually every system being effected to...

Childhood Stress and Lyme Disease

By Dr. David Jernigan of Hansa Center for Optimum Health   Childhood Lyme infections can be somewhat easier to address, due to the pristine nature of most children’s bodies, and if it is caught early. At the same time, Lyme in children can be devastating; depending upon their health heritage and the degree of balanced life and stress in the child’s life prior to becoming sick. These issues will dictate how well a child processes through the illness. In a child’s life, stress comes from all directions. In children, as in adults, prolonged stress predisposes one to illness by changing the cellular chemistry. It must be remembered that every thought, especially those thoughts backed by strong emotions, is every cell’s command to change its chemical production in order to bring that thought/emotion into reality. Strong negative emotions promote alterations in the immune system’s ability to keep bacteria and other microbes...

Lyme Disease: Why Don’t I Feel Better?

The question that dominates most Lyme Disease Forums is why don’t I feel better, even after doing everything I can think of to get well. The dominant protocols are conventional medicine’s Long-term antibiotics, and natural medicine protocols; such as the Zhang Protocol, The Cowden Protocol, The Klinghardt Protocol, and The Jernigan Perfect-7 Protocol. The reality is that no canned protocol, natural or conventional, can do everything and cover every potential health issue. Most if not all of the natural protocols are designed to address the most common issues that lead to illness in Lyme disease. None of the protocols can address every issue, since not every issue needing to be corrected can be fixed with a pill or nutritional supplement. For example, if you dislocate your finger there isn’t a pill in the world that can correct that finger. You must find a doctor with the knowledge necessary to correctly...

Realities of Antibiotics for Lyme Disease

Article by Dr. David Jernigan It may seem that I am 'anti-antibiotic treatment'; however, the reality is that there is a time and a place in which antibiotics can be beneficial for some people. Antibiotics are definitely not a solution I recommend if at all possible to avoid, due to the many, very real, direct, and unavoidable adverse effects on the integrity of the body, not to mention the potential for side effects and allergic reactions. I am amazed at how many people already know they are allergic to at least one class of antibiotic. The problem I have seen repeatedly is that a worsening of symptoms is expected by many doctors as an indication to them that the medicine is working -- the proverbial 'Herx' reaction. But how does one know when it is a true adverse reaction to the drug? Many, if not most, people we have tested...

Why Detoxifying The Body of Lyme Toxins May Not Be Enough!

Research indicates that the majority of symptoms in Lyme disease are caused by the release of toxins by the spirochetes. If that were not bad enough, for most people in the United States, the daily accumulation of toxins just from living, eating, and breathing is staggering! Environmental toxins from our air, water, personal care products, medications, and food supply are jamming up the machinery of the cells, interfering with the regulation of the body. Toxins are a global problem. There is virtually no one on the planet who does not need to detoxify the body on a continual basis. Every person on the planet should be working to eliminate the sources of toxins in our house and life. Detoxification of the body must be a part of any effective Lyme protocol or one risks permanent damage to nerve and joint tissue from the toxic irritation. Today more than 77,000 chemicals...

Fibromyalgia & Low Body Temperature

There are many theories as to the cause of Fibromyalgia. Some say it is the effects of heavy metal and chemical toxicity. Some say it is chronic infections, while others say it is the side-effects from vaccines and the use of suppressive medicines such as acetaminophen, aspirin, and ibuprofen, still others say it is dysregulated hormones or the effects of emotional trauma. In this author’s opinion everyone is correct in the same way as the proverbial three blind men describing an elephant from the head, tail, and the side are correct in their description of the elephant, but only from each one’s unique vantage point. However, in Fibromyalgia there is one common overriding finding…low body temperature! This article deals primarily with the very predictable problems seen in low body temperature and the profound importance of restoring and maintaining normal core body temperature. This is true not just in Fibromyalgia, but...
