With all the prolonged profound stress of the last decade my Adrenal Glands officially raised the white flag--some time ago. More recently, after the fire and through the sprains and facial fractures, they have sent me a series of increasingly louder signals that have brought me to my knees.
From my knees, honoring the symptoms, ready to listen now... Thank you.
I am finally ready to let my adrenals (and the rest of my body) guide me onto a path of taking better care of my whole being--or at least this little piece of the physical universe that I that I happen to wake up inside of every morning.
Below is the start my "doctor heal thyself adrenal health plan". I offer it as a starting place for anyone considering their own need for deep rejuvenation from stress and adrenal fatigue.
FOR THE MIND
Holding the self in high esteem.
Seeing/Knowing/Believing that I deserve good health.
Learning to listen well and to communicate well.
Letting go of taking things personally.
Lowering my tolerance to stress.
Knowing when to say “No”, AND saying it.
Letting go of perfection.
Letting go of over-thinking.
Letting go of mentally simulating all possible catastrophes.
Remembering that life is NOT an emergency.
Taking moments to breath and relax frequently.
Taking it very easy on the self.
Letting the self be exactly who and exactly where it is.
Loving and forgiving the self.
Extending love and forgiveness to everyone else.
Protecting the self from damaging people and situations.
Seeing that kicking for the big (Mahayana) raft means taking care of the self too.
Finding/Creating a Spiritual Practice or otherwise celebrating meaning.
Doing work that feeds my soul in a way that honors my whole being.
Remembering that I am always already encountering the right people and the right circumstances at the right time.
Resting within a more normal sleep schedule.
Frolicking in a diet with lots of fresh fruits and veggies
Moderating: sugar, flour, synthetic chemicals and prepared foods.
Enjoying regular moderate exercise and lots of fresh air. (dancing, biking, walking, running, swimming, hiking, skiing, climbing, laughing)
Selenium (crimini mushrooms, wild red snapper & cod, boiled organic eggs)
Tyrosine (spirulina, seaweed, egg whites, soy protein, wild salmon, mustard greens)
Vitamin-C (bell peppers, parsley, lemons, grapefruit)
B5 (more crimini mushrooms, avocado, broccoli, frozen strawberries)
B6 (spinach, turnip greens, garlic, cauliflower, cabbage)
Folic Acid (romaine lettuce, asparagus, turnips, mustard greens)
Licorice Tea--and taking the time to really enjoy it.
I invite your comments, suggestions, and questions.
In Love and Health,
