The Power of Choice And The Power of Change!

Mahatma Gandhi said it well when he told us, “We need to be the change we wish to see in the world.”

What better time to acknowledge this sage advice, than during the New Year? As it turns out, the choices that we make in our own personal life have a relationship to the current health issues that are developing in the United States and worldwide.

The microcosm of each individual life does indeed affect the macrocosm of the world at large.

This is the practice of 100% responsibility.

Traditional cultures worldwide and throughout history have all had their own variations of this principle. Philosophers, political revolutionaries and spiritual leaders have also all shared this concept with others.

There is nothing new about the principle of total responsibility. And yet when we live in this way, it is completely innovative!

This is especially true when it comes to the health of our own bodies. The small acts of kindness that we show to the physical body each day can have far greater repercussions than we ever imagined. It can change our perspective, affect our daily life and influence how we interact with others.

Did you know that over the last several decades, degenerative and developmental disorders have become the focal point of much research and drug development? This is because these once rare health conditions are now more common than ever.

Degenerative and developmental disorders are things like autism spectrum disorder, ADD/ADHD, environmental allergies, Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia, cancer, type 2 diabetes, obesity and a full range of autoimmune conditions. Chances are that you know at least one person who struggles with one of these health issues.

If we return to the principle of responsibility, then the answer to these modern diseases is not in a pill or in a new drug.

When we eat foods that detoxify the body, such as fermented foods, we naturally cleanse and support our immune, endocrine and neurological systems. This can affect how we age. This can affect how our children develop.

Did you know that something as simple as proper food combining could drastically affect how we digest our meal and whether or not we develop an immune response to certain foods?

When we choose to eat foods that do not overburden our bodies with refined sugars, chemical preservatives, stimulants and unnatural flavorings, we are choosing to support our inherent energy.

When we make the choice to eat foods that are truly nourishing to our bodies, rather than destructive and toxic, we are choosing to age gracefully, to live fully and to honor the many systems that affect our mental and physical wellbeing.

Believe it or not, the small acts of kindness that we show to the physical body are some of the first steps that we can take toward creating an environment that supports the health of each individual!
