Gloria Gilbère is an internationally respected traditional naturopath, homeopath and doctor of natural health. Author of the bestselling books 'I was Poisoned by my Body' and 'Invisible Illnesses', she restored her own health after suffering from leaky gut syndrome, fibromyalgia, and multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS), and now successfully helps others do the same. She focuses on finding drug-free solutions to 'invisible illnesses' such as these which she refers to as Multiple Allergic Response Syndromes (MARS).

Your Health is Only as Strong as Your Weakest Link
by Gloria Gilbère, N.D., D.A.Hom., PhD.
Since scientists confirm the majority of our immune system is based in our gut, doesnt it make sense that our overall health is only as good as the condition of our intestines? Is it any wonder top experts claim the road to health is paved with good intestines?
For over 20 years, Ive been using and recommending ingredients to my clients that are known to cleanse the colon of yeast, fungus and parasites, encourage re-establishment of a balanced intestinal terrain, and assist with die-off symptoms known as a Herxheimer reaction.
It was challenging, to say the least, to locate suitable products for my clients because many of them contain effective ingredients, yet not well-tolerated by those with the most compromised digestive and immune systems, especially those with multiple allergic responses.
The Slow Decline
When excessive yeast is present, these intelligent microorganisms make the host (you) crave the exact foods providing them a gourmet meal to grow and thrive carbohydrates and sugars all at the expense of your health.
Parasites, on the other hand, feed off waste matter in the intestines, and then Candida yeast is like their dessert, albeit a major part of their overall diet.
The following describes the two weak links I find sabotages our health, keeps us from recovery of immune system disorders, and rob us of the quality of life we deserve.
Identifying the First Weak-link
One major cause of yeast overgrowth is antibiotics. Yes, in acute infections they save lives. However, because they kill all the bacteria, the good and the bad, they leave us without health-enhancing microorganisms that are the weapons of our defense system.
The yeast organism lives and thrives in a dark, warm, moist environment specifically the mouth, digestive tract and vagina.
Problems develop when this single-cell microorganism develops feeding tubes called hyphae, which grow directly into the intestinal walls making them porous, allowing toxins and undigested proteins and carbohydrates to flow through the bowel wall, only to be reabsorbed into the blood, as in leaky gut syndrome a condition of autointoxication of which I personally became a victim, recovered, and have maintained my health for 10 years to date (for detailed information read my book I was Poisoned by my body). The most common toxins created by these microorganisms is acetaldehyde a major fungal organism waste-product, a poison converted by the liver into alcohol eventually becoming systemic if allowed to grow out of control.
Consequences of Yeast Overgrowth:
Inner thigh rash
Identifying the Second Weak Link
The second saboteur is an organism that literally lives off you. This organism sustains life inside our bodies by feeding off our energy, cells, food, and supplements, and gains energy from what we consume causing cellular damage and eroding overall health.
Toxins produced by these uninvited guests challenge our immune system with disorders ranging from mild to life threatening.
Recent medical studies estimate that 85% of North Americans have at least one form of parasite living in their bodies many authorities believe this number to be effectively as high as 95%.
Transmission of Parasites:
- Shaking hands with an infected person
- Sexual transmission parasites are more easily passed through sexual practices than venereal diseases
- Raw vegetables a perfect breading ground for harboring microscopic parasitic eggs
- Rare meat, especially under-cooked pork, known to carry tapeworms
- Toxic build-up of plaque in the colon walls, providing an ideal breeding ground warm, dark, toxic and moist
- Insect bites
Consequences of Parasitic Infestation:
Manifestations of Parasitic Infestation are frequently associated with other disorders, when they can actually be the underlying cause:
Dark circles under eyes (not hereditary)
Teeth grinding (not a dental problem)
Inflammatory disorders (Arthritis, Fibromyalgia)
Immune System Disorders
Parasites have three main goals:
- grow fat on your nutrition
- drink your blood
- overload the host with their toxic waste which then reabsorbs into your bloodstream, weakening the liver and immune system
Out of sight, out of mind
Research confirms parasites are a common denominator in people with AIDS, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Candidiasis, Fibromyalgia, Psoriasis, and many other immune system disorders. Symptoms of parasite infestation may go undetected for many years with no apparent symptoms.
Most physicians do not suspect or recognize the classic symptoms, and proceed to deal with symptom-care rather than causes. Unfortunately, physicians are simply not educated in parasitology, other than basic medical school introduction, unless training for a specialty in tropical medicine.
Strengthening Your Links
The weak links of Candida and parasites can be safely and effectively eliminated without the use of harmful drugs and their side effects. I use and recommend several unique herbal and homeopathic complexes created to detoxify by cleansing the intestines of parasites, worms, yeast and fungus, while supporting healthy intestinal terrain, discouraging further invasion and subsequent erosion of health. Seek the counsel of a wholistic health care professional to guide you in a personalized detoxification protocol.
One Link at a Time Builds a Strong Chain of Health
Since parasites feed not only off our cells and blood, but also thrive in an intestinal environment that houses excessive Candida yeast, actually whetting the appetite of the parasites and encouraging their reproduction, it is advisable to first eliminate the source of their main course (Candida yeast), then proceed to eradicate the parasites. If parasites are present, there is most likely an abundance of yeast cells.
Initial Candida and parasite cleanse should be performed in a protocol of two weeks, rest one week, and repeat until 3 rounds are completed. Be sure to maintain good elimination by adding a fiber cleanse supplement to brush the dead organisms preventing them from adding to the intestinal toxic load.
Maintenance, it is imperative that you perform periodic yeast & parasite cleanses, and implement dietary changes limiting intake of simple carbohydrates and sugars that feed these microorganisms in the intestines (see Dr. Gilbères book Invisible Illnesses for complete dietary and detoxification guidelines).
After consulting with thousands of clients around the world, mostly via telephone, I can report that the only clients that do not recover are those who either will not or cannot reduce their overall toxic load, beginning with the intestinal tract, Naturally.
