After nearly 25 years of ME/CFS - under recommendation from my doctor I am considering thorough testing for EBV, HHV-6 and HCMV followed by treatment with the anti-viral medications valacyclovir and/or valganciclovir if appropriate. This is basically following the approach used by Dr. Lerner based on his clinical studies and positive patient response.

Has anyone tried these anti-viral meds and were they effective? I know they have very low toxicity so direct side-effects are not a huge concern but when you tamper with the immune system (especially as a ME/CFS patient) strong responses aren't exactly uncommon so any experiences on that front would be much appreciated also.
