Hi Everyone :)

I am trying to find a dentist in North East England who is knowledgeable with patients who suffer from MCS, No doubt most members on this forum will relate with me, that mainstream dentists dont meet enough patients to begin to understand the complexities involved in this illness.

Sorry Tamie, holistic dentistry is thankfully one thing I've not had the need for (touch wood!) so haven't researched dentists or the subject in general too much other than reading and / or publishing an article here and there if something worthwhile pops into my inbox.
Jodie on the other hand has a wealth of experience and knowledge so I completely defer to her and the others who've discussed it on EiR on this one!
Good luck and best of health.

P.S. Where in the North East are you? Myself and EiR are now based in Middlesbrough...

Hi Maff,

I live near Scarborough, North Yorkshire. I have made countless 8 hour round trip journeys to see dentists, I now think if the material is compatible, any dentist, holistic, private or NHS, can place it.

Hi Jodie,

Many thanks for directing me to all your information.

I have seen countless dentists both in the NHS and the private sector, but once they are faced with anything that goes above and beyond their standard practice they don’t want to know, they get quite hissy and defensive. They have an endless queue of unquestioning, healthy patients anyway, so find people like us a real pain, there is no compassion what so ever!

I am not sure if I would qualify for the NHS having a duty to use materials that I could tolerate, as unlike you I don’t have a diagnosis, although an NHS immunologist a saw a couple of years ago did write that I had MCS. ( the immunologist I saw last week was a whole new story  ) I am not sure if the NHS recognize MCS?

How did you actually narrow down the crowns you used to be suitable?

Tell me about it. In 20 years of being unwell I had more nightmare battles with dentists than any other medic I crossed paths with. Decent dentists are very rare. I would think u cd get to sp needs using your original immunologist's diagnosis, you have to get in touch with NHS England first, & say your dentist wont help. It was total accident that I discovered emax crowns, just happened to have one put in around the time i was having a lot of work done and it was the only thing i didnt react to. The dentist I'm with now is happy to add a little bit of filling material to a sound tooth just to test , but as the filling materials change every few years even with the same brand I'm not very hopeful, I'd rather have a tooth crowned. I might test gold I suppose as the ingredients in gold fillings dont vary much. A lot of barriers came down once I'd got a dx of mast cell disorder. We have 53 specialists in the uk now who recognise and treat this, including immunologists. When I was dx'd in 2014 there were 2, we've put a lot of work into adding to that list (its kept on a facebook group). So if you think this might be your prob its not too hard to get to someone who will help.
