Dear all,

recently I understood that I have developled a MCS and I have not talked to any doctor about it. For a while I thought that I am crazy and that it is my vivid imagination.

To be honist I don´t know which doctor I should see...allergologist or immunologist or both?

Is there any cure when it comes to medications?

Thank you so much in advance.

Hi Sinilind, Welcome! tho I'm sorry you had to join us.. :/
You have some homework to do but it's not impossible. The first thing if you can is to identify triggers which set off reactions, that will help calm your whole system down. The way I did this was to write down everything I'd come into contact with on a *good* day - everything from the shower water & toothpaste to food and drink. Then I would carefully add one more item to that basic OK list & of course adding stuff which caused a reaction too (2 columns now 20 pages on the comp - but I've been at it a long time!).

This is our page on MCS www.ei-resource.org/illness-information/...hemical-sensitivity/

Here's a lot of info from another thread , worth reading through www.ei-resource.org/support/forums/multi...ly-cured-themselves/

Here are some more groups
groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/GreenCanary/info
planetthrive.com

There are conditions you can try and rule out too depending on your symptoms

Allergies
Porphyria
Mast cell disorders
Liver disorders
possibly more, but those are the ones I was tested for..

If antihistamines help (they do for me but so far the only one which really works is Zirtek) you might have a mast cell disorder, there has been a lot of discussion on that here
www.ei-resource.org/support/forums/multi...der-as-cause-of-mcs/

There's invaluable information in the messages on this site, so worth a read thru..

Good luck (and no you really are not going mad!) ;)

Thank you for your answer!

I am also a smoker, should or shouldn't I quit smoking? I have read that for some it has gone worse.

Well there are a lot of unwelcome chems in ciggies - getting some help to quit those would be a good start. Why not try and do that while you familiarise yourself with the rest of the info + support + different pathways thru this, on this site and the others I mentioned..?

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are one of us :). I went to many doctors, had many tests and unfortunately received little to no help or understanding. This can be a very lonely condition so glad you found this site. I also have asthma and the meds for that did not help either. What I actually found most helpful was understanding that my brain and body developed a hypersensitivity of the limbic system (the fight or flight part of the brain) and that it learned to pick up on things most people don't and respond in an enhanced and negative way. It's like post traumatic stress response to chemicals. I did a program called Dynamic Neural Retraining System - on DVD - and some other similar techniques (check out planet thrive website) and I am at least 70% improved in my symptoms for the first time in YEARS. I can actually walk down the detergent aisle now - miracle. However I still do my best to avoid chemicals/scents, etc. Peace to you ~ Peggy

I did a write-up on the Gupta course (which is similar to Annie Hopper's) here www.ei-resource.org/forum/multiple-chemi...on-gupta-retraining/
as ppl kept going on and on about it but no one would take the time to explain what was involved at all ! so I acquired one 2nd hand and found out for myself. Didn't do a thing for me but others swear by it.
