Cures for MCS

Discussion started by marcus 9 years ago

Ok, so there is no such thing as a cure, just remedial actions we can take. Having suffered from MCS 15 years, all I care about is a CURE though!

What I am presently using, with some real success, is something called Liposomal Glutathione.

Now listen: I have battled MCS for a long time, and have tried many things. A lot of things have really helped my general health. But Liposomal Glutathione is the first thing that has had a significant and radical effect on my MCS. I would say I am at 30% of my normal reactivity now.

I would also recommend these things for general health:

1) Digestive health - for me, things like raw milk Kefir, real Sauerkraut, Organic Miso, elimination from the diet of toxic foods like wheat and mass produced diary. I think digestive health is critical to all health.

2) Good sleep patterns. I used Young Living raindrop therapy to help me sleep well at one point.

3) General body detoxification. This is a subset of 1. Active enzyme rich foods like Kefir and Miso, and any natural vegatables, automatically prime your stomach to eliminate and process junk. Another product which has had dramatic detoxing effects was Znatural, which eliminates heavy metals and radioactive toxins. You can also use FoliumPX for radioactive detox. Infra Red saunas are also good, in conjunction with Coriander, for eliminating heavy metals and toxins. A word of  Warning though, don't put the sauna too high, it literally burnt and scarred my facial skin.

4) Sunshine. Seems to help immensely with my MCS.

What else? I have constant emails from Dr Scott-Mumby, and will probably read next "How to heal your DNA"

Best of luck to all fellow sufferers.

Mari, it is wise not to trust anything that says 'Natural' or 'Eco-Friendly' as being ok if you are chemically sensitive and suffer from MCS/EI. The products "may" be better for the environment than regular products (usually not though) but they still contain chemicals troublesome to MCSers!
I would agree totally with Jodie on the Smelleze and noodor.com stuff.

noodor.com uses 'smelleze' which pumps out some sort of gas, I think it was ethanol- someone was trying to sell smelleze on here & I commented on it, I can't find it now, google the MSDS (material safety data sheet) - I'd stay away. Try soaking clothes in vinegar for 24 hours, rinse well, soak in soda for 24 hours, rinse well. Wash. Repeat as necy. I used washing soda but poss bicarb of soda will do the trick. Leave them out on the line as long as you can, unless your outdoor area is polluted & contaminates washing.

Jodie and Maff, thanks for your thoughts and information. Here is a link on How One Simple Breathing Technique Can Induce Better Health wakeup-world.com/2014/11/19/how-one-simple-breathing-technique-can-induce-better-health/…, I found this site, but I'm not sure of the product, just what I see on their site. noodor.com/ Maybe someone else has used the product. The site states; All Natural & Safe Eco Ingredients.
I feel that someone is bringing fragrance into my home and exposing me. I thought this product might be of help to me after I have attempted to wash numerous loads of clothing to eliminate fragrance smells in my sleeping area.

Mari, I agree with Jodie. It sounds like if it were used regularly it would provide similar effects on the brain as the brain retraining systems Jodie mentioned but without the patient needing to be actively involved and highly motivated to do all the self-treatments the above involve. It's the first time I'm hearing of the Life Vessel device so can't offer any reviews, even second-hand unfortunately!
If you do go ahead and use one then please let us know how you found it.

On a related note I agree with the theory behind The Gupta Programme and DNRS offerings but believe Gupta and Hopper have overlooked a hugely important fact - that chemical inputs can calm and retrain the brain as well - not just psychological techniques. So, diet, vitamins, minerals and other nutrients, herbs, bio-identical hormone replacement and all sorts of other things (yes, even medications) can also be used in brain retraining and treatment of 'limbic system disorders' like multiple chemical sensitivities. Using all the tools at our disposal rather than just psychological techniques is sure to bring about recovery more quickly isn't it? Also, they don't address factors that simply will not be fixed by only psychological means e.g. certain pathogen infections.

I have written a thesis explaining all of this and am building a website with forums at the moment to offer my own 'protocol' for limbic system recovery that is individual to each person and does not have 'rules' but guidelines. It is named The RADD Protocol (Remove, Avoid, Detoxify, Desensitize). I want to show people, yes the limbic sensitization model fits very well but there are far more ways to reverse it than what you're currently being offered by Gupta and Hopper...then people can see what suits their finances, living situation, energy levels, religious beliefs (and whatever else!) and create a recovery strategy that works best for them based within my loose road map. The starting point (MCS, ME/CFS, fibro etc) and the destination (recovery) are the same but with my protocol you will be able to select from a large number of different routes and vehicles to reach that destination. Flexibility is what my thesis/protocol offers. Hopefully I will have it available within a couple of months!

Hi Mari, it seems to be a de-stressing programme & may work in the same way as Ashok Gupta or Annie Hopper's programmes which you can use at home & many MCS'er find they really help - the idea is to calm the limbic system which has got itself into a permanent alarm loop & can keep MCS symptoms going. Planet Thrive has many ppl using those 2 systems.

I have been reading about "LIFE VESSEL" as a treatment for MCS. Does anyone in this group have any experience with this treatment? Here is a site for their unit and treatment: lifevessel.com/
Also success from some: www.facebook.com/MCSandEMFsensitivitycured/posts/…
I would love to hear any thoughts about this treatment.
Thanks for your time.

Mari, if a doctor really knows about MCS/EI and how to effectively treat patients affected by them they would have a fragrance-free policy in their office. It is not much to ask of employees and other patients to refrain from wearing fragrances. Any doctor that doesn't at least do this is not worth your time or money. To be honest, I (and my parents) spent a fortune on doctor's bills trying to get me well but my recovery from Multiple Chemical Sensitivity came about entirely through self-treatment and strict chemical avoidance. I don't know your living circumstances but I was perhaps "lucky" to be living alone when I was chemically sensitive so could control my environment completely. I also ate organically but I think more importantly, I didn't use any cleaning or personal care products at all other than old fashioned plain soap for showering and baking soda for teeth cleaning. I used borax and baking soda for cleaning my home and soap nuts for laundry. I wore my carbon filter face mask whenever in contact with people (which was rare) and had groceries delivered. That's it. I appreciate if people have families and jobs it's not that easy! I do think addressing adrenal fatigue if present (it almost always is - definitely if thyroid is under-functioning) and using methods to optimise serotonin levels are also important. At least they were for me.

Matt, I would like to feel that MCS can be cured. I've had MCS for years & feel that I'm really going down hill the last 4 months. I've been to too, too, many doctors without any positive results. I was exposed in November to fragrance in my home & unable to get back to the energy level that I had at that time. My energy level is so low that I'm having a hard time taking care of myself. I eat all Organic foods & use only fragrance-free products. In addition, I take supplements, natura-thyroid, and inject myself with methyl-B12 once a week. I went to a local doctor that I felt would help me with my search in getting better March 6 and the desk staff was unwilling to call me on my cell phone while I waited outside in the windy weather;the stench of fragrance was unbearable in the doctor's office; another exposure. I stay at home most of the time; and don't have people into my home. Since the November exposure, my ability to walk and balance my body has become increasingly more difficult. Also, I MUST do something to improve my energy. I have a medical background that has helped me to weed out some of the doctors that have only one interest in my difficult problem.
Matt, I'm anxious to hear how your efforts have helped you. Thanks for your time and information. I live in AZ and have been to several doctors in Arizona and CA.

I would also add that I found sunshine really helped as well. I think it was the extra serotonin light exposure produces as my reactions to chemicals were always less severe in the summer - I still reacted - but symptoms were less severe. Serotonin is of course known to regulate pain, mood and other factors that could explain our shared observation.

marcus (and all MCSers) - I am of the opinion that MCS CAN be cured. I base this on the fact I suffered acutely for 5+ years with the condition, confined to my home and unable to come into contact with others or even take a shower without wearing a charcoal filter mask. I have now been as 'cured' for almost 11 years...in that I have had no reactions at all in that time and can be around chemicals just as I was before MCS with no ill effects.

I am about to start writing an account of my journey, starting with how it developed (one chemical/product at a time at first before accelerating into a blur of everything!), though years of living secluded with the illness trying all treatments out there, finally to my eventual and lasting recovery. I plan to publish for a few dollars as a Kindle book on Amazon with links from EiR and hope my experiences will help many others like yourself find their way back to a normal life.

Don't lose hope, recovery from multiple chemical sensitivity IS possible!

Best wishes,
Maff

www.evolutionorganics.co.uk/altrient-livon-labs/… Hi Jodie, I am using this brand, by Altrient. It is expensive, and I keep it in the fridge. The cat goes bananas for it for some reason. (The cat also likes the smell of beetroot).

Thanks Marcus. What brand of Liposomal Glutathione would you recommend? I tried Glutathione cream once as I don't tolerate oral supplements well. Didn't appear to have any effect, but Glutathione does come up a lot in recommendations for MCS.
Certainly agree re sunlight - feeling so much better for our really good summer here ..
"Healing DNA/genetic damage" is also being mentioned more and more. If our genes are damaged by our environment maybe they can also be healed by our environment?
