Hello, I'm new here and excited that I've found this website !
Anyone knows where I can read about Matthew Hogg's healing journey ?
I have similar symptoms and I was thinking maybe his solutions could apply to me... I'm kind of in a dead end right now...
Thanks in advance.
Mat

Hi Mat, I think Maff might be struggling with site probs atm - however have a look around, maybe put your symptoms into the search box and see what you can find here that might help. Maff's 'journey' would probably fill a lot of large books, I know he has tried many many things to deal with a whole heap of problems, some were solved, some not.

Hi Mat,

Welcome to the site, glad you found us! Unfortunately, Jodie is right and I am having to spend a lot of time on the technicalities of running the site after a major upgrade at the moment. I'm also the subject of a lot of media attention currently with a lot of people interested in my struggles with auto-brewery syndrome (Candida, SIBO, general gut dysbiosis)!

Could you give us some details of what you're struggling with specifically? I have managed to overcome MCS entirely it seems - with this being my 10th year without a reaction after suffering acutely for years. I have also come a long way in dealing with adrenal fatigue, SAD and mood/sleep symptoms in general over the years. My Achilles heel is my gut. I would be happy to share any tips with you and point you to specific content I've posted here at EiR over the years that might help you out if you could give a bit of background about your own illness.

@Maff : Your site is great, thanks for doing this, having all the info in one place is really helpful, I wish I had discovered it 8 months ago, instead I spent tens of hours searching forums. I'd guess you know what I'm talking about lol.

I wanted to hear more about how your healing because I haven't found any solution online yet.

I feel kind of drunk when I eat fructose and a headache/mental confusion when I eat starch. Those symptoms are gone on Paleo, except the diet is making me very tired, I spend 90% of my time in bed. I read that you recovered from chronic fatigue so I was wondering if there was something common in our problems and what you did to overcome it.

My guess would be that there's still a few dysbiosis giving a lot of work to my liver. What do you think ?

Thanks Mat! When I first started the site there was nothing else like it that covered all of these illnesses that seem to be connected and go hand-in-hand. I wanted to show people the overlaps by putting everything in one place. Thankfully nowadays lots of people have followed suit and there are many great sites of a similar format out there.

Sorry it took you 8 months to find us, Google in their wisdom have decided we're just not that important anymore! I do know how you feel though, I did indeed spend many a long night searching and posting on various condition-specific forums dotted around the web in the early 2000s ;)

It certainly sounds like gut dysbiosis and excessive fermentation could be at play given what you've said. Have you had any lab tests done? Fructose malabsorption is easy and cheap to test for as a starting point. The liver does take a hammering from various toxic chemicals when gut dysbiosis is present and then you get a big knock-on effect with circulating toxins and antigens kicking the immune system into overdrive - all leading to a host of symptoms - but chronic fatigue is a certainty in this scenario.
